The adidas Samba is among one of the most recognizable soccer shoes of all time. To honor the famed silhouette, renowned Belgian fashion designer, Raf Simons teamed up with adidas to create the Raf Simons x Samba Adilette Slides. Using the 'Trompe L'oeil' art technique, the summer-ready rubber Slides appear to have a leather upper with eyelets and even laces. Blue and yellow on the sole are a nod to Simons' April 2019 Samba Stan Smith drop, updating the color scheme of the 1950s shoe. Steeped in nostalgia, the latest adidas x Raf Simons collaboration takes design cues from the archives with this reworked pair of Adilettes. Creating an optical illusion (Trompe L'oeil), the Belgian designer uses the upper of the original adidas Samba and brings it to this poolside classic. Paying homage to the authentic football trainer (soccer sneaker), the collaborative pair takes inspiration from French painting technique known as the Trompe L'oeil, with printed branding decorating the tongue and sole. Promising cushioning comfort with every step, the artistic rendition stays true with a moulded footbed and sturdy rubber outsole. Hit the streets in style with the latest Raf Simons collaboration with Adidas. Featuring one of the sportswear label's most popular styles updated with a trompe l'oeil print, these summer-ready Adilette slides are a true fashion statement. French for “deceive the eye,” Trompe L'oeil is a painting technique designed to create an optical illusion in the artwork. Got to get them! Featuring an open toe, a slip-on style, branded detailing to the sides, a flat heel and a photographic sneakers-style print. A poolside essential since 1972, the Adilette slides are reinvented with Raf Simons touch. The sandals pair signature, foot-cradling comfort with a leather-like bandage upper that shows off the original Samba sneaker graphics. A moulded outsole completes the look. The slip-on adidas® by Raf Simons™ Samba Adilette slides come in a textured synthetic upper with iconic three stripe design. Brand name at outer midsole. Synthetic lining and molded insole. Synthetic outsole. Imported. DETAILS: - Polyurethane Strap. - Trompe L'oeil Print. - Moulded/contoured Footbed. - Rubber Outsole. - Style Code: EE7959. Influential menswear designer Raf Simons was born in Belgium in 1968, where he studied industrial design and took up a career as a furniture designer and interior decorator. It wasn't until 1995 that he ventured into fashion design, launching his own menswear label, using his self-taught fashion skills. Inspired by youth subcultures, the Raf Simons aesthetic is innovative and sporty, often using a clean palette of grey, black and white. Beginning in furniture design, Simons launched his own menswear label in 1995. He was creative director at Jil Sander (2005–2012), Christian Dior (2012–2015), and Calvin Klein (2016–2018). As of 1 April 2020, he is the co-creative director of Prada, in partnership with Miuccia Prada. Raf Simons is one of the most influential brands to come out of the 90s. The namesake label of designer Raf Simons – who initially studied industrial and furniture design in Genk Belgium – kicked off with his inaugural AW1995 collection, shown through a lo-fi video presentation, and closed with his SS2023 collection at Printworks London. The self-trained fashion designer – mentored by Walter Van Beirendonk when Simons was an intern, and Linda Loppa of the Antwerp Royal Academy – captured the zeitgeist with his propensity for spotlighting emerging and historic youth subcultures.
